S.M.C S.S 3 Scheme of work Physics (Term one)
Week 1- Revision/Electromagnetic waves. Types of radiation in EM spectrum, description and uses
Week 2- Gravitational field and law, gravitational potential, escape velocity, potential energy in gravitational field
Week 3- Electric field, Coulomb's law, electric field intensity, electric potential, capacitor and capacitance
Week 4- Current electricity, primary and secondary cells, types of cells
Week 5- Electrolysis
Week 6- Electric measurement- Resistivity, conductivity, shunt, multiplier, conversion of galvanometer to ammeter and to voltmeter
Week 7- Magnetic field, magnets, magnetization, etc
Week 8- Magnetic field around current carrying conductors, electromagnets, uses of electromagnet
Week 9- Electromagnetic field- Fleming left hand rule, Application- D.C motors, moving coil galvanometer.
Week 10- Electromagnetic induction- Induced current, laws of EM induction, Induction coil, A.C and D.C Generator, transformer and power transmission and distribution, Eddy current
Week 11- Revision
Week 12 & 13- examination.

Week 2- Theory of logarithm
Week 3- Word problems involving quadratic equations, solution to linear equations and quadratic equations
Week 4- Surface area & volume of a sphere, hemisphere and other composite shapes
Week 5- Spherical geometry, longitude and latitude
Week 6- Review of first half term's work & periodic test
Week 7- Location of places on the earth, more calculations of longitude and latitude
Week 8- Problems on spherical geometry and bearing
Week 9- Harder problems on trigonometric graphs of cosine and sine
Week 10- Grouped date-tabulation, presentation using histogram, cummulative frequency curve and mean, median and mode.
Week 11- Review of second half term's work and periodic test
Week 12 & 13- examination.
